you need to run sms.elf with inlink (or equiv i guess) need a share on you computer name "test", that contains the file "test.avi"
so if another windows computer was to connect to your computer to play test.avi they would type in the run dialog
and also you need the username/password of test/test, that has the right permissions to read the directory
the elf, and req. irx are in the file below
after this post i'll upload the ps2sdk files that are req. for the libsmb stuff, i forgot earlier
its on separate lines cdause u need like 15 posts or greater to post url, so change xx, to tt

this is all of the files (i think) that you need for putting libsmb into ps2sdk
in the .zip archive the folders common/ee/iop just copy and paste (yes to overwriting) them to where your ps2sdk files are, the files in the ps2 dir are the header files required by ps2libsmb.h, and libsmbclient.h, and they contain definitions for the functions that are in the library, libsmbclient.a
so if you were to make a project with smb you would need to include
libps2time.h (in the ps2 folder)
and any other of the header files that you would need
and in the make file the following libs
-lps2time -lcdvd -lsmbclient
put the lib files whereever you prefer but make sure to update the path in the make file, and i forgot to add libps2time.a to the file above so it is here

i tried to run Argon but it says unable to run ps2link.irx. I dont have a hdd
an I dont want to link my ps2 to pc. and also im not connected to internet
but i would like to use it from mc.

ya i got dns resolving to work if you supply a dns server, it only works for internet address though (like google.com) but not for lan (i wonder if its something else for resolving LAN ip address)
ya the libsmb works with a short avi i had
the stats for the avi are:
bitrate 125kbps, mp3
bitrate 134kbps, xvid
23 frame/sec, 24bit
i'll try and find higher bitrate stuff but surprisingly enough its hard to find .avi files

I wonder at what state is all that stuff ? hacked-in or nicely integrated? And what do you think about including that into SMS?
Got nice progress with that SHOUTcast streaming, although, at the moment, have no idea how to stop it, once it began playing.

the dns, and libsmb stuff is integrated pretty nicely, into both SMS and ps2sdk (just some files in ps2sdk need to be changed) , to put it into SMS would be easy for the functionality, but idk how to add in the interface for 1. selecting ip of computer, 2. username/password entry, and not sure if fast forward/rewind would work, or having a config file for the windows shares
edit: forward/rewind works when paused, but if you use the forward/rewind while playing idk how to get it to play again

No, I've been asking about how nicely SMB is integrated into that FileContext - all that buffering, etc. Could there be something that might affect the performance.
And I think that EEUG might find a way to integrate all that required stuff. But let's test the performance first.
Btw., if you are interested I can send you that SHOUTcast stuff I'm working on, although, right now, it's just a total mess.
And I think that if I'll get that libsmb support working, we should concentrate on getting SMB finished, so I'll postpone SHOUTcast for a while.
It should load off the MC without a problem, what is the exact error message?
And sure you can help the development. Just pick some area from the first post ? developers part. Although, at the moment, we have no way to synchronize the development. hip203 and I tried to contact ps2dev.org staff to get SVN access, but it seems that there are no one alive.

i dont have an Network or HDD connected. In "Argon.xml" it says:
i wonder if i change it the "mass:" to "cdfs:" should it work to load/play my movies/songs on the cd/dvd-drive?
ive read that i should use the "SMS.cnf" but how should i load the config to Argon?
then another problem, i cant get to the settings in the "main" in Argon. I can get to movie settings but that is about it.

it intergrates good into the FileContext, everything is there except STIO_FillStm, and STIO_SeekStm, which i have no idea what they do anyways
