AC3/VBR Audio Incompatability?
AC3/VBR Audio Incompatability? –
So I thought SMS had trouble playing DivX movies. I decided to Gspot a couple avis that I had trouble playing and to my surprise, one of them was an XviD. So I opened 3 different movies that I had essentially the same playback issues (frequent lockups, slow to load the avi) and here's what I found.
2 of the avis use AC3 sound, 0x2000. The 3rd avi I check was an anomoly though, as it used MP3 sound. HOWEVER, it used VBR, which I have had other issues with. AVIs with VBR sound have alot of problems with being out of sync on SMS.
Does anyone know exactly what the limits are of SMS in regards to playback of AVIs with AC3 sound?
I've attached gspot screenies of the 3 AVIs so you can compare:
Is there anything else I missed?
If you use the latest beta version of GSpot (v2.52b01), you will get more information about your videos. The QPEL and GMC flags are especially important. From looking at your screen captures, I would expect the first video might stutter during playback because the bitrate/resolution is high. Does it happen after scenes of fast motion (when the bitrate may spike)? The other 2 look fine, but might be QPEL or GMC. The interleaving is good on all videos.
I just downloaded GSpot v2.60 pB01, none of the avis have QPEL or GMC, but they do have BVOP.
