Hi,EEUG!
Thank you for your great & fastest media system on PS2. You did unbeliveble work for all of us. We'll never forget You. As You know, there are some new media industry standarts:AAC and H264-video. What does possible to add as playback's feature for your SMS in near future?

Of course H264 decoding wouldn't work as it requires at least a 2 Ghz processor.

@Dmnj: I think you're right. Decoding process will be rather slow on 300MHz CPU (just try to make a DivX/XviD with Q-Pel option enabled (though Q-Pel motion compensation is not optimized in SMS at all) to see how slow it becomes

yeah... H264 is a high end codec which puts a lot of stress in the CPU, it must be close to impossible (if not impossible at all) to make it worked flawlessly on the PS2 at acceptable resolutions...

And what about m4a playback (AAC)?
And what about m4a playback (AAC)? –

Hi,EEUG!
But what about playback of m4a-files(AAC decoding)?

@vitaliyfx: ...hi
. I think it's possible to implement that. You just have to understand that it is not possible (and, probably, not interesting) for me to do everything. And since there're virtually no programmers interested in further SMS development...well, let's say that it can be implemented

...SMS sux in some (maybe too many) aspects and I know that
. Sorry for that...

Well, if it sux at some things, it compensates at other things where it is great!

Well, According to Christian HJW (Matroska project admin) H264 is playable
on Pocket PC using the TCPMP code based players. So 320x240 and maybe higher reslutions are playable on very slow CPUs.
