2 SMS Questions (new to SMS)

Hi everybody.

I have a 4Gb Kingston usb drive, and trying to use it to watch Divx on my PS2 (it has a Thunder 2 Pro Gold chip) in SMS V2.9 Rev 4.

On my computer, I created a folder called 'boot' on root of usb drive, put sms.elf in that folder, and renamed it to boot.elf. Configuring my Thunder Pro 2 to boot from USB, I get SMS running fine, playing my videos without problem.

But:
1. Can't save settings: Every time I change some configuration (ex.: set autostart usb on) I can't save this. I get "Error, press cross to continue" on bottom of screen when I click "Save Settings".

Reading some posts, I find and tryed something about USB drivers (downloaded them, nothing), incompatibility with some usb drives (not my case), and upper and lower case of filenames. Nothing works. For what I read, the sms.cnf is stored ONLY on memory card. It's true?? Anyway to get configuration working on usb drive?

2. Can't get SMS in PT-BR: I downloaded the sms.lng_pt-br from official site, rename it to sms.lng and copy it to the 'boot' folder mentioned above. But I can't even change the config to set it in PT-BR. How I can get this working? The lang file must be on memory card?

DETAIL: I don't have memory card, only the 4Gb usb drive with a lot of free space. I still need a memory card?

Yes, that is true.
Afaik, it only searches for a config (and of course also saves there...) on mc0/MC in Slot1.

Yepp, afaik it must be in the SMS-Folder on 'MC0'.

I'll try to buy a MC, then. Here in Brazil the fake ones dominate market. Find an original is a real battle.
