I got a wide lens pstwo v13. I just modded it with Matrix Infinity and everthing works. But I'm just afraid that once you play with it for a couple of hours it will fry the lens. On the other hand it is a v13, so it shouldn't be a problem??

I tried applying comsoft fix v4, but afterwards the laser would not move and would not read anything at all, so I removed it. BTW one pod reads around 200 ohms and the other 1.2k ohms.

Am I really save? Or should I fix it and how? I would prefer not to change the laser to a PVS, a lot of hassle and they are expensive where I live.

The best solution? Diodo Fix in Tracking-Focus circuits and a Romeo Mod. 5Volts in PS11. I never seen a optical unit fried with this romeo mod.

Yes, that's what I normally thought too. But it does have a wide lens, but shouldn't be a problem then?

a lens can always die no matter what fix you are using
not to scare you off but that is how it is

just play with the pstwo and do not worrie to much about it
when it dies a new lens for a pstwo cost only 20 a 25 dollar

    grtz

I have a wide lense in my V14, the PS2 has had about an average of 30 hours a week use (using backup/homebrew discs almost exclusively) since last December, still reads as well as it did when new. Just use quality (Japanese) media and you should be fine.

You can always buy a spare PVR802w optical block for later if you're worried, it will replace the SPU-3170 (wide lense) Block and work fine without modification.
