V9 tray problem:(
my tray wont eject itself if there is no disc inside but it will eject perfect if there a disc inside.
the problem is the white magnet.
I've taken the magnet out and it open's fine and I've also moved the magnet with my finger while its trying to eject and it ejects again fine.
also my memory card reader sometimes i need to "lift" the memory card "up" to get it to read?
thanks very mucho!!!:)
I've only worked on v4 and v7 models so I'm not sure how different a v9 is, but I'm not understanding how the clamper(white disc w/ magnet) would affect the loading motor. If you removed the magnet are you sure it went back in the same way? I'd suggest checking all the connections and ribbon cables to make sure something didn't get disconnected. As far as the memory card is concerned, it could be dust or debris in either the card or the card reader. I'd use a vaccum attatchment to clean it out, but be careful you don't suck up any loose parts. If that doesn't fix it it could be the ribbon cable that connects the reader to the pcb isn't properly connected. If that's the case be gentle when reattaching it because I've found the plastic to be very thin and brittle. Hope this helps, good luck.
I've seen this problem before.
It's because your eject motor isn't powerful enough to overcome the magnet's force. The reason it ejects when there IS a game in it is because the game creates a space between the magnet and the motor's metal, thus allowing it to open easier.
To fix the problem, just put piece of paper with clear tape on the magnet itself. Make sure the piece is small enough to fit in the magnet circle. If the motor still struggles, try two layers.
You can also try pushing eject, then tapping the front of the disc tray. This sometimes allows the motor to unlock the driver.
As for the memory card reader. Your pins are probably bent and/or corroded. Take a small screw driver, bend them all back up slightly, then clean them with rubbing alcohol. Also check your memory cards, they might need cleaning as well.
