I have a V9 that works perfectly except for one thing, no video. I can load a disk and hear it play perfectly on the tv but the screen is black. So I'm assuming the LA6508 chip is bad? Could it be just a fuse? If it is the LA6508 chip, how tough is it to remove from another V9 (parts) unit and replace the defective one? Are they soldered or pressed fit? Your help is greatly appreciated. Thanks

If system is modded chek the bios as it sounds like it might be briged. usaly if LA is dead it wont read any disk. When i replace LA chip i use a hot air rework stasion but any one can remove chips with a razorblade and some time(have done it many years ago). As for scraping anoter board for an LA chip i wuld not advice as you might damage it and no telling if it will work on new install or for how long......Must use new LA chip dont skimp on $5-20 part.

No mods on this V9. Is it anything else it could be? I have dozens of parts PS2's around and since this V9 is no good the way it is, I may try to fix it, just want to make sure I'm headed in the right direction. You just take a razor blade and work it around the LA chip? Then how do you reattach? Is it glued back on or press fit? Thanks

it is not the lachip that is broken so don't waste your time on investigating that
if your lachip is broken your system does not read anything but should still be able to output a screen

you hear it play prefectly do you also here sound ??
possible a fuse near by the emotion engine is broken
also did you try another cable ?

    grtz
