    Hi again,
I just gotta replacement board for my V9 (scph50010) ps2 today. it was from a system which was scrapped but the mobo works. However for some reason the laser in the system (my original laser ) doesnt seem to like the new mobotherboard. When I power up the system it makes an odd noise like a grinding noise. It doesnt appear to be gears but the laser shakes a bit when the system is powered up then does nothing further. Its a KHS400C laser, and I wonder if the new motheroard is incmpatible with the laser or can it be recalibrated to work again?
    My Gear:
    Slim PS2, Matrix infinity & PS2600 skin
V9, Matrix infinity, Net adaptor, Blue Chrome skin

Have you made sure it's not the metal laser arm?

Try pressing reset on the PS2 with the top of the dvd drive off... does the laser glide smoothly from one side of the drive to the other? Or does it stop moving along the rails when the noise begins?

if that doesn't work you can search the forum for a program called lenschanger.... it programs the eeprom of the motherboard to make it compatible with whatever laser you have.....
