v7 400c help
My old 400c laser crapped out a while ago, after many cleanings and angle adjustments to fix it over the years, eventually it just stopped working, as in reading discs for atleast five minutes before giving a DRE, I never messed with the pots on it BTW. It still gave a red light and spun discs, but could not read ANYTHING.
So a few monthes later I got a new(afaik) 400c, the replacement itself was easy. Than I go to test it out, and basically what it does everytime I close the tray is, pops the laser up, moves the laser close to the spindle if I have moved it, spins the spindle a tiny bit(as in a fraction of a rotation), than gives me a "no data error". The laser DOES emit red light as it should, but it never attempts to actually read discs.
I've tried putting my old laser back in to make sure it wasn't something wrong with the PS2 itself, but it still tries to read discs forever before giving me a DRE just as it did before.
Is there some type of calibration required for a new laser? Or just something I'm missing at all? Or is it just a shoddy laser? Thanks for any help guys!
have you removed the anti static solder bridge on the new laser ?
Where would the bridge be located? I don't see anything on the bottem of the laser...
the antistatic solder point is on the underside of the laser near to the ribbon clip, have attached a diagram with the point circled in yellow, if its still bridged it will be one ball of solder, if its been removed then you should have
2 half moons of solder.
