On a US V4 PS2 when I press Eject the tray comes out and after a few seconds it goes back in by itself. I've also noticed that the blue eject flashes and as soon as the flashes stop is when the tray goes back in.

Anyone have an idea what this might be and how to fix it. If it can't be fixed I'm not worried since it is enough time to insert a game.

There's a switch inside the DVD drive that lets the PS2 know that the tray is fully extended... sounds like that switch is bad or damaged... the PS2 thinks that the tray is only half way open and is stuck on something -- to avoid burning the motor out, it's pulling the tray back in.
