Hi, I have a little problem with a v15 PAL PS2 I just installed a Matrix Infinity modchip in.

It's dead. When I connect the ac-adapter the LED doesn't lit up red as it normally does - nothing happens. When I push the button, nothing happens either. No fan activity, no LED, no nothing.

I haven't put the motherboard back in its case - I just connected the ac-adapter to the motherboard directly and no laser is connected. It was possible to start it up this way on a v12 I modded, isn't it on v15? Do I need to assemble it entirely for it to start (thinking there might be some button that needs to be pressed or something).

Anyway, I checked all my solder points and they all seem fine.. but I did notice one possibly major problem!

I connected the s-wire to the wrong point!

I disconnected that wire entirely (i e did not solder it to the correct point, it's just loose) and the PS2 still won't give any sign of life. Did I kill it by applying it to the same point? What does that other thing do? Is there anything I can do to fix this?

Is the S/SX wire for playing imported PS1 games? If not - what's it for?

If I detach the modchip and ALL the wires, do you think it will work again?

Another thing, check this out. What do you think?

I'm really stressed out right now. It's not even my PS2.

I hope anybody can help. Thanks in advance!

It sounds like something is wrong with your install. I would remove the chip and assemble the PS2 to make sure it works again.

If it doesn't work with the chip removed then check your fuses with a multimeter, you may have blown one or a couple of fuses by putting the wires in the wrong spot.

If it works after removing the chip then redo your install. And follow the diagrams from the MI site don't mess with the alternate points until you know your install is good. And after you finish your install check you install visually to make sure everything is in the right spot and then check it with a multimeter to make sure you have good connections.

Thank you for your reply. I removed the modchip entirely as well as all the wires, etc. I checked for excess solder and there's none left (I used a desoldering braid to get rid of it all). No broken traces, no shorts, nothing.

It's still as dead. No sign of life whatsoever. I'm hoping a fuse has blown, but ... I could use some help here.

Where are the fuses, which ones are morel likely to have blown, etc? From what I've read, PS14 seems to be an important one, problem is I can't locate it. It says PS14 on the board, but I can't find a fuse next to it. Is there some kind of diagram that shows where the fuses are or anything such? I'd really appreciate some info.

PS, here's the diagram I used. I've got the same board of course.

I haven't seen a V15 fuse chart made yet. The best I could find is a V12, but the fuses should be pretty much in the same area. This will at least help you see what they look like.

Thanks for the diagram. It'll be helpful I'm sure. I found PS14, but I kinda wonder what it is for. I don't have a multimeter but I'm going to buy one tomorrow. I'm just curious: will a broken PS14 fuse cause the problem I have (i e system being completely dead)? If not - what other fuse will cause it?

By the way - let's say PS14 is broken and I need a new one - will a standard 2,5A glass fuse work? If so - do I need a "slow" or a "fast" one?
