    Hi everyone,

Recently I've been getting some Disk Read Errors on my backups, and even some of my original copies , but it's not to all of my games, just some of them ( MGS2, MGS3, Xenosaga, Lord of the Ring: ROTK and some more ), so it doesn't seem to be a problem to a specific kind of PS2 games..

So I tried fixing my lens by following these guides:

    1- http://arstechnica.com/articles/paedia/hardware/ps2.ars
    2- http://faqs.ign.com/articles/390/390535p1.html

I did the first one without any problem, and it did improve my ps2 a bit. Regarding the 2nd one though, I have a V4 playstation 2, so could I still do it even though it's different from the version in the tutorial ?

Finally, does using cheap DVDs increase the odds of getting DREs ?

    Thanks in advance.

using cheap media definately increases the odds of dre's - it also drastically reduces the life of your laser. adjusting the voltage only delays the inevitable. sounds like you need a new laser.
