    Hi,

my PS2's (SCPH-50004 v9 / 10 /11) Disc tray stucks every first time I power the unit up.
So when it's in standby and I power the unit up via eject, it blue LED blinks, drive makes a closing noise and LED stops blinking.
Same thing when I power it up via the Reset button and press eject afterwards the same things happen.
After that when I press eject for the second time it opens and closes again normal.
I honestly dont know how this could happen.
One possibility is that when I cleaned the drive, I powered the PS2 up, ejected the tray and cut the power on the back of the unit.
After cleaning the drive I slided the tray back in by hand and close the unit, maybe that got the PS2 confused?

    Can anyone help me?

    Thanks,
    iCEQB

The tray mechanism is broken. You probably have it not closing completely and thus not hitting on the 2 position switch. For one side it means "closed" for the other "open". The middle means the door is half open.

The DVD drive CPU is programmed to aways attempt to close the door if it's not closed upon power up, even if the main CPU does not start up...

Depending how damaged it's, could you provide us with Picture of your disassembled DVD drive with mechanism that's placed under the tray ? I don't think that kind of damage could be possible done without any action. Did it just broked by itself or you did something to your PS2 acidentally?

Well I wouldn't say I did anything wrong to the drive.
As I said I just opened the top of the drive and ejected the tray to clean it.
Never touched anything from the mechanism.
I watched a video form a guy who did the same and after he ejected the tray he closed / opened this white locking mechanism....I did everything except that, could this be the problem?

    Thanks,
    iCEQB

I do not own any FAT PS2 at the time but If I recall correctly, the white locking mechanism you have mentioned above might be a problem if its cover isn't placed right or if its position is sligthly different from the default that's needed for tray to open. Once again I could be more of help if you could make a picture of that mechanism and it's position. (which sould be on the left side by default )
