    Would is be possible to take the the laser along with whole mechanism its on from a scph 90001 and put it into a scph 75001??

    The KHM is newer than the PVR type of laser but they are essentially both the same kind of laser.

    PVR replacements are dirt cheap on ebay.

    YES.
    If you have two diferents type of chassis you need to run Lenschanger before do it. (SPU units)

    If you have the same chassis, just need exchange the laser unit.(khm, pvr units)

    I don't know where you got that idea of SONY lasers being newer.

    Both are same thing (as age) Just that it's easier to buy spares of the Mitsumi laser than the SONY laser. It's also more likely to have SONY laser on new/sealed machines.

    Also I aways had the impression that PVR (Mitsumi) lasers were more common on PAL machines (when it was still with it's original laser from factory).

    Here in Brazil while most consoles we see here comes from the U.S.A., we see consoles from other regions on a fairly good basis.
