Swapping DVD-ROM Drives

Is it possible to put a v10 DVD-ROM drive (the WHOLE THING, Tray, Cover, Reset/Eject, etc) into a v7 PS2 since the v7 DVD-ROM drive is toast?

yes, but you need to flash the eprom with the laser fix. I dont know much about it, hopfully someone else who knows will tell you

does it have the same laser? if its the same model, i dont see anything wrong with that
