Slim line v13, not spinning

Hi all,

My friend just given me his ps2 slimline v13 to see if it is fixable, just thought i would ask here to see if any one knows the possible fix

You switch the ps2 on, its works a treat, but the laser and motor for the cd does not spin, the laser shines red for a second then stops, it then shines again for another second, this carries on

does any one know about this with a possible fix?

is it chipped?

Not that i am aware off, he says it has not been chipped but is interested in it being chipped now it is out of warrenty

Try replacing the tracking and focus coil resistors and the laser head. It should fix you up.

I have looked at v12 board layout but it looks differnet to the v13, does any one know where these resistors are located on the v13

close to the focus and tracking resistors you will find a resistor with the number ''163'' try to replase this one also my friend....and also try to find the PS13 on the bord and replace this one also...
