    Hi,
I got my v7 PS2 about 5 years ago, still working "okay" but my laser has been a bit screwy lately. It plays DVDs and DVD games fine, however everytime I put in a purple disk(non dvd) PS2 game or a PS1 game in my PS2 it would keep on giving me a "disc read error". It sometimes works, but it would take about 20 tries before it actually reads the disc. I use the MC exploit so I kinda need to run my PS1 games. I'm assuming the laser is just wearing out, but it is wierd that it only happens to CD games and not DVD games. I don't really use DVD-R or CD-R at all so it can't be worn out that quickly. Does anyone have a solution to this? Or maybe a place I get buy a new DVD drive.
    Thanks,

So I take it that since you've done a exploit you've never adjusted your lasers at all? Sounds like you just have to either clean and/or adjust the lens or if that doesn't work lower the resistance of the pots on the back of the laser and it should work.
