scph-30000 series laser, where to buy

Okay this may be very common knowledge sorry if it is. I spent some time looking around to find a replacement laser for my scph-39001 since i found a video that makes me fairly confident that i can replace it myself. All i can seem to find is the ribbon cable so i am guessing that the time for those lasers has come and gone. So i will ask is there somewhere to buy a replacement laser or can i use a different series laser. If that is really not a option then thank you guys for responses anyways. If worst comes to worst i will follow the guide to buying a ps2 that is compatible with FMCB.

You must know the kind of laser your console has (If you just want to replace it without the need for extra configurations).

Your console should be able to use both (KHS-400C and KHS-400R/HD7) laser types - but you must know how to use the lenschanger (A program that re-programs your PS2 to use a different laser type) if your new laser is of a different type from your current one.

The SCPH-39001 which I had before I exchanged it for my SCPH-39006 had a KHS-400C laser, while the SCPH-39006 I have now has a Sanyo HD7 laser.

Great response thank you, So if i open it up and pull the laser can i get the info i need to purchase the correct one without having to run the config software for a new one. I am guessing there is something to look at inside that will let me know what the exact laser to buy. And do you happen to know if these lasers are easy to come by. Thanks again for your response.

There's one good place to get lasers. goldenbridge.hk. $20 or so.
KHS-400Q is the right laser for that model. No lenschanger.elf needed.
the Q version replaces B and C.

Unless his console is currently having a KHS-400R or a HD7 laser.
If he does have a KHS-400R/HD7 laser, then he should look for a KHS-400H.

But I should add that the KHS-400H and 400Q lasers are designed and manufactured by 3rd party companies.

Thanks guys looks like a great site you recommended i think i will buy that one and give it a go. Great support on this site i have recommended it to a few buddies.
