SCHP 75001 GH 040 052 laser not working
SCHP 75001 GH 040 052 laser not working –
The PS2 is a SCHP-75001 (date code 5D) with a GH-040-52 motherboard. It has the PVR lens (which I think is bad) and has never had a mod attempt done to it, and I'm the first person to have it fully apart. The first person only got the case off and didnt even take the fan out, so it wasnt damaged like that beforehand and I didnt damage it while dis assembling it.
This is basically what the PS2 does, you put a game in it and the drive doesnt make any attempts at all to spin. I think that tells me the drive is dead, but could something have blown on the motherboard??? How would I tell/ Where would I look??? I could use an ohms meter if need be, but I dont want to tell this guy that its the optical block and go and replace it to find that it wasnt the problem at all.
I have no other slim PS2's to try this in, and I dont have any other PVR (or any PSTwo laser units for that matter on me).
I have modded a PSTwo and discovered that it's optical unit is already defective. The same case as you.
My solution was replace the lens. No other choice.
The things are that this unit has not been modded, I can replace the lens no problem but do not wish to do so until I know for sure that it is indeed the lens that is the problem.
When you turn the ps2 on does the browser screen appear on the tv ? Does the green reset light come on?
Try a cd game instead of a dvd game. When cd is working your laser is blown.
Yes the browser screen and the green light come on.
Nothing works. I've tried
DVD based PS2
CD based PS2 game
CD based PS1 game
DVD5 backup of movie (+R)
DVD5 backup of movie (-R)
DVD9 backup of movie (DL +R)
DVD9 backup of movie (DL-R)
Audio CD copy burned at 52x
Audio CD copy burned at 32x
Audio CD copy burned at 1x
And for all of them its the same thing, goes through the SCEA screen you see first very quickly to the browser screen. When you browse it shows and reads a memory card but gives no DRE no matter how long you leave it sit.
Ill check the fuses monday or tuesday after I get an ohms meter from work, any diagrams for this motherboard of fuse locations/values???
Does anyone have a pinout of the V14+ PSTwo fuse locations and values???
I dont want to buy a replacement drive until Im sure its the issue.
2005 , I'm not sure this is your problem but it's worth checking out.
There are a couple of lugs that stick down underneath the lid of the ps2. These connect to a micro switch that tells the ps2 that the lid is closed. If one of these are broken off then the switch is not activated and the ps2 thinks the lid is still open and the drive will not spin. Check the one that is directly above or next to the reset switch.
I've checked and their seems to be only 4, 3 wrather long ones and one short one (next to the reset button). I dont think thats it, but maybe I could insert something into the holes to make it always spin and see if it works like that.
Im also thinking it could be the power brick??? Ill check the fuses and try to mod those holes so that the sony thinks the door is always shut.
