A customer brought me a v9 console that gives a red screen of death on about 60% of the originals it tries to load. I've given the laser a normal cleaning and regreased the rails, and all the other things but nothing seems to have increased it's boot rate. Is this the first sign of a ps2 dying from too many mech crashes and hence the reason for the romeo mod. Would romeo modding it now help save it or is already half toast (or 60% toast anyways) It has no mod, no sign of a mod and everything was still sealed when I got it. Not too dusty inside and looks like a well kept and barely used ps2. It sucks if thats the problem because it probally means the la chip is partly fried and the board is toast and/or the laser is partly fried and that needs to be replaced as well.
Replace the LA and if the lens of the laser dusent look tosted then it shuld be fine test then aply romeo.. Also stay away form the Half LA fix Boards just a Waste of time i have tryed on 6 difrent V9 and the 6th time i took an M-80 to it.. Just replace the hole thing with originl or one of those flopy Pcb fix..
