Resistor question (summons)
Resistor question (summons) –
Hi all, planning to do my first V12 and im confused a bit here.
It shows on summones link to either solder a 560, 2.0k, 4.7 K to the rst point and 4.7k resistor to the rsf point.
I went to my local store today to grab a bunch of resistors, I was thinking that they sell the resistors in different K so I was going to buy all 3 plus a few for backup (im a noob to this)
At my store they only had a box of resistors, but on the back it had 1,1.2, 1.5 to like 820, then 1k, 1.2 to like 820k, then 1.0m to 3.3ohm. It would take me too long to type out all of them.
So my question is, what does all of this mean? Can I use any of the 2 resistors in the box for the fix? they're all the same size and everything. Many resistors are different colored, does this determine how many K they have or something?
Someone please shed some light, im lost
Also while im on the topic, do you guys think the summons fix is good enough to fix the overheating problem with the slim ps2's or should I add something else to the fix?
4.7kilo ohms = yellow , violet , red, gold (5% resistor)
yellow , violet , black, brown, red (1% tolerence resistor)
black = 0
brown = 1
red = 2
yellow = 4
green = 5
the third or forth bands generally mean the multipler or number of zeros to add to the right hand side of the figure after the value of the first two bands. Note you can get 2% tolerance resistors as well they have red as the last band.
er brown is the last band in 1% resistors
try to get the resistors - if the clerk in that store wants to sell you a box or does not want to pull the correct resistor from the box - grab the phonebook and find another store (a real electronics parts store )
