I've got a pile of useless lasers sitting around and saw that you can purchase new laser PCBs that I assume would bring the laser back to life (as long as the lens & coils are still good - right?). Here's a link to a current FleaBay auction for one - just so you know what the hell I'm talking about:

    hxxp://cgi.ebay.com/PS2-Laser-Part-Cable-PCB-for-KHS-400C_W0QQitemZ8257701707QQcategoryZ11328QQrdZ1QQcm dZViewItem

Has anyone tried these? How difficult is it to replace these PCBs? Is it worth it?

    Thanks

Okay,... thanks crans. I was under the assumption that the diode was on the PCB - so all that really mattered was whether the lens & coils were still good.

I went throught the trouble of installing a new PCB (got a system that had no laser response and noticed the PCB was torn). However, after installing PCB I still got nothing, laser does not move at all. I think I have the PCB in right, but who knows.
