Repair for broken sensor inside slim PS2?
Repair for broken sensor inside slim PS2? –
This refers to a slim PS2: SCPH-77001, NTSC.
Originally this was going to be about softmodding but now my plans went 180 degrees. I was going back into my PS2 to reapply tape to the inside sensor in the back, next to the disc unit. I did the noob thing and pulled off the tape too hard and the sensor/button came off like Nad's body hair removal on hair. Is there a way to repair the damage or did I screw myself big time? I read somewhere that applying a piece of aluminum foil to bridge the board would fix it, but I'd like confirmation on this before attempting it.

On my V12 (70004) i had a problem with this sensor too (the Disc stops always spinning), so i solder it with 2 small cables (cause the sensor has 2 contacts).
I do this with both sensors. The sensor on the front (near Power-Button, has one contact) too.
I say take care, if you want to bridge something.... If you bridge something wrong or to much, your PS2 can say Bye,Bye...
i got some aluminum foil and taped it over the spot and it works good as new!
