PSone problems -- won't boot, restarts after PlayStation logo –

Hello! I bought a used PSone (smaller model) (SCPH-102 PAL version) today, and it worked fine. I looked inside because I wanted to install a modchip but I noticed it already had a modchip installed -- a 6-wire Stealth 4 modchip.
I tried to play an import, but it wouldn't work, so I checked out how it had been installed and from all the installation guides I saw on the Internet, it seemed like pin 8 from the modchip was connected to the wrong point on the motherboard, so I moved it to the supposedly correct point.

However, after doing this -- I read that the PSone couldn't play imports using the Stealth 4 mod chip, so I burned one of my PAL games and it did work. However ...
Every single game now restarts the entire console as soon as it has booted. The PlayStation startup screen displays, and the FIRST game screen (usually company logo) shows up, then the laser struggles and the entire machine restarts. This goes on forever.
I then resoldered leg 8 to the original point, and after that, the entire motor refused to spin. The PSone still started up, and I could see the PlayStation startup screen, but the CD refused to spin; no matter what media I used.
That made me desperate so I removed the entire mod chip from the console and now the CD spins, but it still restarts right after the company logo just like earlier.
What could've happened? Did I blow a fuse? Any ideas on how I could fix this? This is really a shame as I never got a chance to play any of my games.
Also, I have another question: is it true that the Stealth 4 chip (6-wires) won't let you play imports on your PSone?
Oh, and I forgot to mention: the system plays audio CDs just fine.
Thanks in advance!
