Well you could always open the PS2 back up take out the modchip then take the console back to where u bought it from (depending on how long ago it was and if the warrenty is still good) and get them to replace it with a new one. Of course this may bring up an ethics problem, but I'd hate to have wasted my money on a PS2 and chip then 12 hrs later it break and have nothing, but then again u did know the risk involved and the consequences that you may have to face when doing this. I guess again the problem is choice.
