PS2 won't read DVDs
Hello all! First and foremost, I'm not really expecting any replies on this thread - so really, if it doesn't happen, it doesn't happen.
Now, to my problem; the other day, my console dropped about a meter onto a soft blanket while the game was spinning - namely my backed up ps2 GTA SA with an ESR patch. The PS2 is Fat, and it had a flip-top case installed. So after that, it's not reading -any- DVDs, including the brand new God Of War II disk I purchased a week ago. I have mucked about with the laser height, and since my console is a V9/10, it has two cogs. Anyway, it reads cds now, but come to think of it, I didn't test that it could do that after the accident and before the tweaking.
I've cleaned the laser, adjusted the cogs up two clicks at a time all the way, but it still doesn't read DVD disks, and I'm stumped.
How can I fix it?
Thanks, hardy :)
EDIT: I have done some reading about V9/10 syndrome. What is it? And I think that is what my console has - it's a SCPH-50002
If I'm not mistaken - professionals would say that your console's laser coil loop (For reading DVD discs) has been misaligned when the console fell.

The v9/v10 syndrome is where the console's laser and LA6505 chip seem to blow easily - often for no obvious reasons.
If you replace your laser, you might want to replace the LA6505 chip in case it has been damaged too - or you might risk having your laser destroyed by a faulty LA6505 chip (Unless you are certain that it's still undamaged).
