i have a v7 infinity matrix ps2,the problem is the controller port cable fastener that connects to the motherboard(the plastic piece that holds the wire to the mobo)came off and the ribbon stays loose and wont detect the dual shock controllers anymore i was thinking of buying a new one ,but i was also thinking are there any usb wireless ps2 controllers or multitaps that i can purchase to replace using the original controller port in its place. ty

Sounds like the plastic piece on the motherboard is broken, then a new ribbon cable wont fix the problem, you need a new "plastic piece" holding the cable in place on the motherboard.
Try to ask a local ps2 repair shop if they have a spare or if they can fix it.
If it's only the locking mechanism thats broken you could try to glue the ribbon cable back, with a hot glue gun or using eletric tape, to hold it in place (cheep solution, but it might work).

I agree...I'd also recommend this fix.... you obviously have taken your console apart, so, use a hot glue gun and while holding the ribbon cable in place, apply a small about of hot glue over the connection. Give it a minute to coola nd I'd be willing to bet you fixed your issue. The good thingis that the hot glue holds it very well, but you can remove the glue easily, if you need to on down the road at some point.
Just don't go crazy with the glue, apply a a spot at each corner of the connector and with a wet finger, lightly press it flat..... good luck.
