hi, I have a v12 ps2 witht he dms4pro chip installed. Haven't noticed it before but my ps2 is eating the disks. There is a scratch about 1" maybe 1/2" on the disks. the line goes all around the disk in a perfect circle. Anyone know what might cause this? thanks
the only thing I can think of is that the laser is coming up too high - are there any scratches on the lens which would prove this?
Anything else in the tray which looks suspicious?
I agree with Kl1k.. The easy fix would be to (carefully) pry the spindle hub back up a bit.. A miner recalibration of the laser may me needed after doing so thou..
After many times of swapping disks back in and out of the try this may be needed.. I had to lift the hub in my V12 once a while back.. Give it a shot.. just be carefull doing so..
hi, thanks guys, I started thinking maybe it was the laser so I swapped the laser & assembly with that of a dead ps2 slim I had and the problem is gone. guess the laser was the problem. I may try to fix the other laser, but i've had my ps2 since it was released and this new laser is from a v14 my friend killed so I might leave things the way they are, but thanks for the quick reply.
