I recently purchased a ps2 v12 and I want to install a modchip in it. However, I decided to install the neofix xiii first (it came with the chip). The problem is the ps2 doesn't read discs anymore, it just says "there is no data" even though the disc is in the tray. It worked before I installed the neofix, so that is the obvious problem. But it appears that I soldered all the points correctly, so I don't know why it isn't working. I doubt it is the laser itself, since I completely removed the laser assembly before installing the neofix. If anyone can offer any help that would be greatly appreciated.

Jenko, is there another way to fix the laser problem (the factory defect that the version 12's have) without purchasing anything else? I already spent $60 on the modchip and neofix, and I don't want the laser to burn out. Alcopaulic, I haven't even got as far as you yet , but I'll be using a dms4 pro. Good luck...sorry I can't offer any help as I am a n00b to the ps2.

Check the solder point that is on the other side of mobo.
If this point is bridged, the laser wont spin at all.
