    hello,

I just received an V10 PS2 which was incorrectly modded with a Duo SE 2. I removed the modchip and did the Romeo mod but when starting the console and when opening, the DVD-Drive makes an ratteling annoying sound which reminds me of my PS2 V6. I can open it and close it. Is this the famous LA-chip error?

UPDATE: I made a video to check if the laser still haves a beam, I can see a beam in the video. I can also see the laser moving down, but when it's down it doesn't move anymore. Don't want to use my eyes to check that out. Can there be a laser-beam when the LA-Chip is dead?

I am going to solder my Romeo mod to another 5V.. to check if it helps.

UPDATE 2: Ok, I just soldered to another V5 point. But instead of using 1 wire (AWG 30) I used 2 wires. Now when booting, I still hear the annoying sound. However, the white thing in the DVD-Player turns around. DVD-Drive is still not reading the discs. It just seems 5V ain't anough for this laser..

Going to try ANOTHER V5 point tomorrow. If this doesn't help, the only thing I could do is soldering the pin back to the LA-Chip

Any help would be VERY nice

UPDATE 3: Ok I started the cosole again and right now the machine is booting every game to the Playstation 2 screen. However, my Demo disc boots further to the menu of it. When I try to launch a demo from the disc is sounds like the laser has problems because the sound appears again. When I launch a game after the Playstation logo the sound will be coming from the DVD-Drive again.

Is this a problem with the laser not being able to focus or something?
