Ps2 swap trick...I damaged something...
Ps2 swap trick...I damaged something... –
Hey everybody! New entry here...from Europe.
I have an old fat PS2 (probably it-s 8-9 years old now). It was originally modified with Messiah chip.
Worked for years untill it could no more read anything.
3 years ago cleaned laser and it started again reading just original games.
3 days ago I wanted to install free mcboot with the Tony hawk 3 swap trick. I tried a pair of time to swap with homemade slide tool. Swapped but it couldn't read the game. Actually I went 2 or 3 times too much further with the card and I'm afraid something could have happened.
So I tried the swap trick by opening the case and magically now it cannot read ANYTHING AT ALL.
I tried to calibrate, by trial and error, the trimmer but no luck.
Anybody has any idea about what could have happened?
Have a beautiful 2010 all!
Not reallly, beyond the obvious guess that your slide card may have pushed or pulled at something better left alone...

Since you can no longer even try to boot homebrew from a disc, the only practical method open for you is to send an MC to one of the FMCB installer volunteers. Once you get this back your next step should be to download "Open PS2 Loader" and "USBUtil v2.0" (not just for USB), so you can start running games without depending on the CDVD drive, instead loading the games either from USB drives or from a Windows fileshare. And if you get a PS2 network adaptor you can also use its HDD interface for an internal ATA IDE HDD, for use with HDLoader to run games at even higher speed than "Open PS2 Loader" can manage (as yet).
So there are many ways for you to continue using that console, even if the CDVD drive remains broken, and most of those ways start out the same, with you sending an MC to one of the FMCB volunteers. As you may already know you'll find the list of volunteers in a 'sticky' thread of the FMCB subforum inside the forum for Homebrew/Dev stuff.

Thank you very much for the answer.

And I will go for Open PS2 Loader since I don't have net adaptor!
Bye and thanks!
