it seems that v12 slims have overheating issues but i don't understand how if the psu is external?
i just bought a v12 slim PS2 last weekend. apart from needing a laser replacement it will apparently need a small cooling mod.
i have a 30mm and 40mm fans that i could mount right above the heatsink. i could solder the black & red wires of the fan to a usb cable and use a usb port to power the fan. i just don't know how many volts i could get from a usb port.
2nd option would be to find a 12v point on the mobo and somehow solder the red & black wires of the fan directly. is it possible?
