Ps2 slim v15 problem –
07-19-2011,02:51 AM
Hello, i recently finished soldering in a modchip, matrix infinity 1.99 into my ps2. I realize there is a section for mod chips but this more about hardware.
Its a slim silver v15. The hardware issue here is that since the install, my disc drive does not read anything or even spin the disc, it does however move the laser back and forth. I can see it retract when i pop open the lid.
Now i am a little confused because when i first installed the chip, the laser didnt move back and forth at all, and it turned out to be a loose solder connection, so after i fixed it then the laser moved, but still no disc spinning.
I go into the browser, and it says "reading disc..." for a while but then stops and says it cant be read (it didnt say that at all the first time, the time with the loose solder connection).
I am wondering if this could be another issue with a solder connection, or if perhaps i blew a fuse somewhere, or maybe a short could be the cause, because i highly doubt i fried anything while soldering.
Where would i go about finding/testing to see if the fuses work, i looked all over the board but nothing jumps out at me as looking like a fuse. Also, would it be a difficult repair?
Does anyone have a guess as to why the disc wont spin?
