PS2 Slim problem?

OK i haven't played my ps2 for awhile now. And i never really play it all that much either. Anyways I turned it on this morning and played a game. I heard a loud high pitch noise and i thought it was coming from the tv, anyways i was in the menu of the game and i exited out and the sound stopped. So i just let the problem go. I pop in a few other games then the games started not booting up. The disc still spins though. I put in dvd movie too, it too does not boot up. What should i check first? BTW i bought this ps2 premodded so i still don't know how to open up a ps2.

>>nevermind. Read some tutorials online on how to crack open a ps2. Looked at the dvd laser. poked around on the modchip. put it back together. bam wham boots up the game. guess i was lucky it didn't fully break. don't know what really happened either.
