the connectors could be covered in dust and shit try giving your ps2 a good clean maybe even open it up and clean inside also it might be the ethernet cable
Sorry, but for what a signal are you waiting???
If you donīt have FMCB or a Game to use the network the PS2 isnīt connected. And there are no LEDīs to show you there is network activity....
I wanted to use FMCB so i can play games from my laptop HDD via ethernet. When i connect laptop and ps2, laptop doesnt report that ethernet cable is connected like when u plug it to router or something else. Cable is fine cause i used one that i use to connect my pc to my router. I'll try to clean the ps2 and see if it works then.
If you connect your Laptop directly with PS2 you need a "crossover-cable", otherwise it donīt work.
Or you connect your PS2 to your router with a standard network-cable....
EDIT:
Damn, i forgot something. The PC/Laptop doesnīt report anything if you only connect PS2 to Laptop.
Only if you start OPL and Network, then you see the connection.....

Could i just connect router to laptop and sony to router will it work without crossover cable? I tried going into OPL and messing with settings but still no luck.
Yes you can use router to connect PS2 to PC the router will make the connections but you have to config your router correct to PS2 and PC

With your Laptop, if you are connected via WIFI to your Router (Internet), you donīt need to connect it with cable for playing over network. Connect only the PS2 then....
I got it working through Router, all is fine except i need to connect my laptop with cable in order for it to work. I'll try to experiment a bit and try to get it to work via wifi. Thanks for all the help, much appreciated![]()
