I recently bought a used SCPH-35003 (GT3 Bundle) console and the Real Time Clock resets every time the console is turned off at the back.

When the console is turned on after this, the swirling balls in the OSDSYS are all clustered together stationary in the middle of the path they would normally follow. Once I have correctly set the date and time it then behaves as expected until the power is removed again.

I assume the battery just needs replacing but I would like to confirm this before I take the console apart. If anyone can confirm which battery is required (I'm assuming it's a CR2032) and where it's located that would be very helpful.

You are correct on the behavor of the system and battery type. As for it's location on that model, I'm not sure. I know the SCPH-300xx models have it close to the eject/reset switch. SCPH-390xx models have to be stripped to the motherboard with the top metal shield removed to get to it.

Thanks for your help. I looked around a bit more and found this: Sony PS2 SCPH-30000-50000 Service Manual

The diagrams aren't the best quality but from what I gather the battery should be mounted alongside the CDVD drive on the 350xx consoles.
