PS2 (pstwo slim): plugged, but no green light (no 100% power on). Help!
I bought a brand new Pstwo (slim one) model 75004 and installed a crystal chip v1.1 on it with no success (no power on). I then decided to remove the chip completely and check for broken fuses and such.
After I was finished un-soldering I noticed that I had accidentaly broken off the connection bracket for the reset/on button's ribbon cable (which might have been the problem in the first place, *do'h!). Since I had no replacement ribbon cable I proceeded to carefully disconnect the bracket on the mobo and connect the button with regular wires (same I used for mod-chip). Now I get a red light on the console indicating power, but the console will still not power-up.
I googled around and read a lot of forums. I checked all of the fuses I could identify as such but all except for PS1 were fine. I replaced PS1 with a new fuse but still no luck. I have checked and rechecked everything and I am totally out of ideas.
I read of two or three people having the same problem (broken reset button and then no power-on) but no-one answered them. I hope some of you experts can help me out. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
A few silly questions:
- Is it possible to turn the console on without the laser unit and battery connected? It would be great to able to check the unit without having to connect everything every time.
- The cables going from the mobo to the reset/on button board are about 5 inches long. Could this have any influence on the funcionality?
- is it possible to check the onboard chips with a multimeter?
tried power up from mobo - no luck
I unsoldered the wires I used to replace the ribbon and tried powering up from the mobo. I read in this forum that you could power up by connecting the switch pin to ground. It did not work :( (I tried connecting each wire to ground since I don't know which the exact power-on pin is).
Here's a picture of the connecting section.
