PS2 powers, but no activity.
I have a v7 that I bought from a Pawn shop.
Kids kept arguing over the one in the family room, so I bought another to rememdy the situaion.
When I bought it, it wouldn;t read anything, so I cleaned the laser and blew out all the dust.
Worked fine then and my son had been playing with it for a couple of months.
I had a spare chip, so I decided to go ahead and install it on his.... he's rough on the disks, rather he play the backup copies.
I installed the Matrix Infinity chip and when I powered the PS2 up to test out the install, all I got was a green light and the fan.
No video output and no DVD activity, it wasn;t spinning. The tray won;t even eject.
I took it apart, checked all my connections, inspected the board for any possible solder splash... nothing.
I decided to uninstall it and reinstall..... however, in the process, I forgot to check the unit out w/o the chip in it to make sure it was still fine.
I'm pretty sure my next step is going to be to remove the MI chip and retest the PS2, but I'd like to know if anyone has run into this and can give me some insight as to what it may be, before I pull it all out again.
I'm really bummed out about this one, I had planned on doing the case mod this weekend, but the chip install has totally screwed me up now.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
