ps2 power on all of time?

i tried to search this type of info for a quite a while but never could find anything on it.

so i was wondering if its recommended to have playstation 2 to be powered on, (red light mode) all of time. will it wear the console down over time faster or have an effect on it like overheat with HD inside or something like that?

i have been wondering about that for long time. like VCR and DVD there are some power on but does not turn anything more than clock or timer recording on. is it same with playstation 2? just show red light nothing more?

nope - you can leave the ps2 in standby mode - it won't harm it. as long as its not left on (green light)
