I bought a new laser, PVR 802W, off of ebay and installed it into my ps2 scph 70012. The original laser was a KHM 430 but was pretty much dead, as it is only able to read one of my games. Anyway, after installing the new laser, I couldn't play any games at all. Oddly enough, the disc spinning mechanism stopped working. The laser moves up and down and attempts to read the disc but the disc doesn't spin. I assumed that maybe the motor stopped functioning or I had royally screwed something up in the installation, but when I reinstalled my old laser I was able to play my one game that worked, disc spinning and everything. So, to be short, I installed to new laser multiple times and it doesn't work, but the old one still does. Now I appeal to you all for some guidance as to why the new laser would stop the spinning mechanism of the ps2. I was told that the new laser would work with my ps2. Any help would be much appreciated.

Ok, so I probably made a noob mistake by not removing the antistatic point on the laser. It works now.

the antistatic point is a Solder point located on the side ,take a look at the picture attached to this reply

Use the soldering iron to remove it (there are three lines to be separated )

Note : make sure that the soldering iron is too hot and try to melt the point out in a flash ,DO NOT put it too long if you were unsuccessful the first attempt ,wait for some seconds (5-10)and try again .Good luck
