    Ok people.. i have two PS2 50004 versions one is a NTSC the other is PAL.. what i was wandering could i take the whole DVD drive from the NTFS and insert it into PAL version.. the PAL version is modded but the NTSC isn't.. I just want to know could something like that be done.. replace the two whole drive assemblies

    i'm not sure how dvd drive is attached to the rest of hardware, this could be difficult.

    i doubt it that you actually mod the disc drive (except for disc swap thing) though.

    i disassembled the two PS2 and found out that they have the same identical connectors.. i did what i wanted to do with them i put the drive from the NTSC unit into the PAL unit and it worked... I played GoW for an hour to test it and it works perfectly.. btw the NTSC unit is 50001 not 50004 and it had a KHS-400C laser unit, but the PAL unit had the Sanyo SF-HD7 laser unit and that's the thing that was worrying me.. I knew that i couldn't replace the lasers because the microcode (or what is it called) for the laser units its not the same so i replaced the whole drive assembly and it worked..

    You should use lense changer first! The mainboard is set to accept the KHS-400R type laser (Which the Sanyo HD7 is considered as too), and connecting a KHS-400C might damage the KHS-400C. D:
