    Title says it all. My ps2 cannot read my original copies UNLESS i put the disc in, turn off the console then boot it up with the disc inside. When i try putting one of my dvds in while the console is on it will go black and load to the broswer menu where it just displays "no data" and right below that "reading disc". Eventually it will just go to a red screen asking for PS2 media. It also doesn't read dvd movies AT ALL. I've yet to try my only ps1 game but that's not as important to me. Question is would cleaning the laser work for me in the long run? At all? or just a temporary fix? I'm assuming it's a very temporary fix but i'd like the opinion of someone who knows what they're talking about :P

    Model # is SCPH-500001. It's still under warranty so i guess my other question would be if i do use the warranty on it, will they give me one of the newest versions of the console? or would they just replace whatever parts are needed to fix the one i send them? Would kind of like to know this information before i decide to void the warranty and open it. Never actually needed to send in one of my ps2s to be fixed 0_o

    50 model is easy to burn laser and ic controller.

    Run to the warranty, dont touch it.

    That lens is(could be):
    1- bad quality
    2-bad calibrated
    3-OLD

    Check your discs are perfectly clean.
