I've had my PS2 for years and never had any issues with it.
Recently I decided I wanted to try playing games off a USB hard drive and so I did some searching online and found that Free Mcboot was the path I needed to take. So I joined this forum, and sent my memory card off to one of the people in that thread who will do it for free. I got the memory card back today, and plugged it into my PS2. I was quite excited when I saw Free Mcboot loaded as soon as I turned my PS2 on. I looked around at what was installed and just checked out menus and stuff for a few minutes... and then just put the controller down to start working on ripping my games to my USB drive. After about 30 minutes of game ripping, I looked up at my TV screen... everything was fine, and then all the sudden the PS2 turned off completely.
Nothing happened even after turning the power switch on and off... so I removed the power plug, waited 30 seconds and plugged it back in, now I finally got the red light to appear on the power button after flipping the power switch. However when I press the button, the only thing that happens is the light goes green, and the fans kick on. However nothing appears on my screen and the blue light for the optical drive does not turn on either. It's the same way with or without the Free Mcboot memory card in the slot.
I am just completely dumbfounded by this... there is no way Free Mcboot isn't somehow responsible for whatever has happened, since my PS2 has worked perfectly for almost a decade.
So, the box is useless to me now unless I can fix it... I'm willing to take any and all suggestions/ideas to get my PS2 working again! Thank you in advance for any help!
