99% ice chips, an occasional o2 or Infinity
4 v13 consoles sofar without any fixes and no burnt coils.
I still think 90% of lens issues are Human error.
Why did you edit your post? It was kinda true:Originally Posted by anarchy2007
I have done 4 v13 consoles sofar, 2 of them I added no fixes and the other 2 I added Matrix Pic fix. No returns so far. I must also admit that I have only had 1 Lens coil burn since the release of the slimlines. It had a sommone fix and Pic fix.
I only use the pic fix now, and I get no problems.
90% of the lens issues are install related. The crash normally happens when there is a problem patching the BUS (data from Mech controller / CPU and DVD controller) wires a - i on most mod-chips. These problems are mostly caused by dry solder joints, long wires and wires crossing. If any one does not believe this then insert a PS2 disk, just before the disk starts spinning faster (to boot the game) cut the B wire and see what happens.
The best lens burn-out protection is to have all wires flat on the motherboard, not crossing each other and try to rather solder wires a- i directly on the mech con / cpu, if you have a dry joint here the wires will come loose when they are bent over backwards to go flat onto the Mother board.
I agree with tony about the laser burn out issue. apart from those unmodded ps2's, almost every ps2 with coil burn-out issue that comes to me for repair has very bad installation done by someone else being wires too long and acrossed each other not to mention poor solderig skill.
We'll Tony I suppose editing my last post didn't really help. I know it is true, the only problem is that I have been bashed a couple of times before for stating the obvious:
"90% of the lens issues are install related. The crash normally happens when there is a problem patching the BUS (data from Mech controller / CPU and DVD controller) wires a - i on most mod-chips. I have realised that most people don't want to be helped they simply want their bad installs to work. They will also never admit that most of these so called lens burn-out issues are not caused by the mod directly, but by all the so called fixes and bad installs.
Hey, lots of South Africans in this thread.Originally Posted by Robot
I agree with you there Robot, I am tired of turning people away with the v12 slimlines, hopefully most mods this season will be v13![]()
