Tony.... as I started the thread you are refering to ...as an experienced installer and a member of this forum for 2 years prior to you.....Originally Posted by T07N

Just to clear this issue up.
Robot...I agree...Tony contributes and gains respect for this...but did seem to get to get "too excited" in his own words.
Thanks robot for your info, I didnt see the v13 in holland till now.
I agree that maybe I have to search a bit more, but again there is to much confusing
info.........
yea germer i only have had 2 v13's here in south africa, one with pvr and one with SPU lens
You're gonna be reburning a lot of dvds if you're not careful with them. If you're using good media and burning them at slow speeds and never putting a scratch on them. Wouldn't the laser not need to use it's full capacity to read it? If you cripple the laser would it have that much of an affect? I don't know, I haven't tested but my rule is to not mess with the laser if it's brand new. Install a fix. I rather leave it at original where it's guarantee to read rather than cripple it.Originally Posted by sunny

i tested a scratched disk with the pot adjustment and it worked fine . The pot adjustment will effect media with a poor refective rate witch kills the laser
As I mentioned in previous post, this is for v13 with wide laser only...as the guys were recommending.Originally Posted by T07N
Other than this, there is no other fix for the wide laser.
Anyone had a v13 burnout?
i personally do not screw around with the pots and have only had 2 diode burnouts 5 months ago. since then no burnouts at all (narrow/wide lasers v12/v13)
