Hi guys! I searched in various posts for possible solutions, and already tried some on my own, but nothing so far...
The problem is the following:
I have a V4 PS2 with matrix infinity, and I've already had too many problems with this freakin console, first a really strange buzz , loud as hell, but got fixed by some guy I knew. Then the laser stopped reading backed up dvds, just originals, and I replaced it with a new KHS-400Q some years ago. Initially I think it was reading any kind of dvds. It hasn't seen hard use because I pratically just play through HDD.
I have to check the potentiometers level, haven't done that yet, but it simply won't load any memento/esr patched games. I know some of them played along time ago, but then I hadn't used it for some time, and recently I got a bunch of singstar games to try out, backed up all of them with the best media around (verbatim dvds), patched with ESR, and it won't load any of them... around 30 I tried so far, none works... And some older ones I knew were working, doesn't seem to work anymore.
The strange part is, some games that work (not patched for DVDV), work kinda well... the loading times can be a bit longer, but the spinning velocity is constant like it should be. Also, like i said, some older patched dvds work, and others don't. And one stupid/strange this, it can be coincidence, but TDK darker dvds seem to load, while most white/normal verbatim dvds dont...
I tried to clean the top of the laser lens, but didn't help on anything. Is there some kind of "deeper" cleaning that can be done? When it's DVDV patched dvds, it identifies de disc, but then just goes black screen with read error on dvd-video menu, or goes back to ps2 browser...
Any help appreciated. Great great forum btw, been visiting for years!
i checked the pots and they're around ~750 and ~835 ohms, which seems kinda low for both... Any idea which is the DVD one?
The lens has a sticker on it saying PS-400Q. Made a good cleaning job, but, still the same results... I'd prefer to avoid buying another lens, but, can you tell me where I could get some at good prices, and what models are compatible with my console?
