You blew PS1 (A tiny pico-fuse on the center of the motherboard. The line has 12v so playing with the ribbon cable can lead to nasty results such as blowing the input pins of either the reset or the eject buttons on the "system controller" chip.
Since the red led isn't lit, It's very likely the system controller chip isn't receiving any power. PS1 pico-fuse powers a 12v to 3.3v converter which powers the system controller chip. Find it and replace. Then don't be cheap and get a new ribbon cable ...
