My PS2 was a slim and I was using Modbo Chip with the software ver. of 1.98. The all games ran fine until I stumbled one problem. I CAN'T USE THE DISC OPEN/CLOSE TRAY FUNCTION to something like Action Replay, Dynasty Warriors Load Original function or I had to save and reset each time after World Map trick from Tales of the Abyss. I don't know how to fix it even went to Modbo chip menu screen but whenever I open the disc tray and swap disc, It won't recognize the disc even though it was the right disc.
Have you tried removing the modchip and testing it without it? This sounds interesting. I'm no expert but I'm pretty sure that Modchip plays on the fact of running backups thus sending phony data to the lasors so they don't know it's an original disc like what Swap Magic does (except using modchip instead of blocking the lasors). Cheat things like AR Max, Gameshark, Xploder and Codebreaker work by putting in the original loading of a normal ps2 game (just the start) and then allowing you to put your codes in. The lasors have to read the new disc, but since you have the modchip on it's only meant to load 1 game the backup. If you want try using CB.elf, it's one of the few .elf files that can load a ps2 game (with sensors blocked) after it has started.
Doesn't hat happen to other user of Modbo chip? I think there isn't any complaints about it for most of the time and it was weird to see nobody complain about it. Any modbo chip expert out there?
