Heres a strange problem that's been pissing me off recently. This happens with some games, not all. What will happen is I will put the game in, the ps2 sees it and reads it, then depending on the game, it will try to load something and the ps2 will making a clicking noise (like the disk is hitting the laser). the clicking lasts about 10-15 seconds then stops for about 2-3 seconds the starts doing it again.
It has a Matrix Infinity with a v1.82 bios. I don't know any more specifics than that. It's a v3 i believe. I don't get any DRE's at all. It reads every disc with no problems.
Games that don't work:
Matrix: Path of Neo (original or backup)
Devil May Cry 3 SE (original or backup)
GTA: San Andreas (original, don't have a backup)
ATV Offroad Fury 2 (original, no backup)
Games that do work:
D1 2005 (backup)
God Of War (backup)
Driver: Parallel Lines (backup)
Kaido Battle I/II (backups)
Initial D (backup)
DBZ: Budokai Tenkaichi (backup)
Most of my other games work.
I dunno. I hope my ps2 isn't dying:-pray:
First make sure the disc media is clean. If that isn't the issue, double-check the chip wiring to make sure that there's no debris around the solder points, and remove the flux too, in case the installer used a conductive brand. Lastly, route the wires away from the ball grid array chips, since those generate a lot of electrostatic noise. The underside of one looks like a number of vias arranged in a square pattern, with some smd components near the middle of it.
