I power on the console and the lens does not move at all, no red beam, etc. I soldered a DUO2 SE with the dvd points onto the vias on the backside of the board. Later I tried removing the chip: same problem. I remember having had some problems with solderind to the vias (possible cold solder) because the wires were just a little too thick, sometimes the wire fits just right depends on the board I figure. Anyway can somebody confirm this? Will I need a new board? I just cant figure out what the problem is. Thanx

check the laser coil resistances and fuses, but as Jenko says if u didnt do the romeo mod the la and laser could be fried. the v9/10's are dogs without the romeo.

Yes I did the Romeo mod, and also I believe Summone had a way of knowing if the LA chip was ok by testing the resistyance between points of the LA chip and I believe I remember it was ok. HAs anyone else had this type of problem?

I would check those vias and make sure they are still connected through the board.
use a multimeter on the via and the corresponding pin on cd/dvd controller IC and make sure they still have continuity.
